Private Photography Lesson

Brink Norton, Porter-Gaud’s Director of Communications, will teach you how to take your digital images from Snapshots to Art. You will learn about your own camera’s functions, proper picture composition, lighting, tricks to taking pictures like a pro, and image editing secrets.

Go Greased Lightin Go! This battery-operated children’s car has been painted by the Fine Arts Department for use in the Upper School Musical “Grease.” Your child could be driving “Greased Lightnin” through the neighborhood all summer long!

Private Swimming Lessons

Four 20-minute, private swimming lessons in your own pool! These lessons are for the beginner, intermediate, or advanced (stroke work) swimmer.

Private Art Lessons

Four 90-minute private art lessons. The area of concentration can be child-generated or teacher inspired. We will meet to discuss what will be included in the plans for our times together before lessons begin. All materials included. To be scheduled Mondays in April and/or Mondays in May.

2nd Grade Girls Night Out

You and eight of your friends are welcome to join Mrs. Adams, Ms. Bryant, and Mrs. Coleman for a night out on the town full of second grade fun. We will escort a total of nine students out to dinner followed by an activity. We might go bowling or maybe even to a movie depending on what the group decides. We will end the night at one of our favorite ice cream places. You and your friends are sure to have fun with this special night out on the town-2nd grade style!

Summer Blockbuster with Mr. William Adams

Lower school teacher Mr. William Adams will take your child and a friend to see two summer blockbuster movies of the parents' choosing. The children will be picked up at your home, driven to a local theater, offered movie refreshments, and then driven home.

Scrapbooking with Mrs. DeVos

Join Mrs. DeVos for an afternoon of organizing, cutting, gluing, decorating and journaling. Mrs. DeVos will supply the 8-inch by 8-inch album, adhesive, paper and embellishments (including stickers, stamps, etc.) along with pens and tools to use. Some time will be spent looking at the examples and discussing how to select papers and embellishments to coordinate with photographs. The rest of the class will be spent putting it all together. Make sure you bring your creativity and at least a dozen pictures to create a book of memories to last a lifetime!

Guided Tour of the USS Yorktown

See Patriots Point through the eyes of a senior Navy officer who served as Assistant Chief of Staff on a carrier strike group during the early phases of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM! Your group of up to four will be guided by Captain Keith Bowman, USN (retired), who recently joined the Porter-Gaud faculty. Your visit includes lunch at Guiseppi's Pizza.

Guided Tour of the CSS Hunley

See Charleston's most visited Civil War Era military artifact - the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley, accompanied by the former commanding officer of a modern nuclear submarine! Discuss the development of warfare under the waves, from the pioneering HUNLEY to the capabilities of today's sharks of steel. Your group of up to four will be guided by Captain Keith Bowman, USN (retired), who has recently joined the Porter-Gaud faculty. Your day will also include lunch at Madra Rua, one of Charleston's finest Irish Pubs.
